How We Use Your Details

Last updated 25 October 2026.

Who We Are

Jackanorie is a website where readers choose new books from authors, read them and are paid for finishing them. Jackanorie is run by John Hones, in the United Kingdom, who is responsible for your details. If you have any question about your details, email hello@jackanorie.com.

What We Collect When You Join

When You Sign In

Readers on the list can sign in with a link we email to them. We keep your email address, when your account was made and when you last signed in. Your browser keeps a small sign-in key so you stay signed in, and it is removed when you sign out.

We do not use cookies or tracking on this website, and we do not show ads.

While You Read

If you read on a Kindle, we do not see your progress. We only know what you tell us in your feedback.

Authors' book files and covers are stored with Supabase. A book file is opened in your browser only while you are reading it.

Why We Use It

To email or text you when books are ready for you to read, to match you with books you are likely to enjoy, and to keep to one account per mobile number. You can stop our emails with the unsubscribe link in any email, and our texts by replying STOP.

If you answer No to either joining question, we do not save anything you entered.

Who Else Sees It

We never sell your details. These companies handle them for us so the website can work:

An author never sees your email address or mobile number unless you choose to join that author's own mailing list.

How Long We Keep It

Until you ask us to remove you or unsubscribe. Your reading records are kept while your account is open, so we can work out what you are owed. If Jackanorie closes, we delete the reader list.

Your Rights

You can ask us for a copy of your details, ask us to correct them, or ask us to delete them, by emailing hello@jackanorie.com. We reply within one month. If you are not happy with how we handle your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
